my life in a box

They started putting up the Christmas lights the day after Halloween. It usually pisses the hell out of me when I see the lights go up along Orchard Road in early November; it seemed a tad too crass. But all of a sudden, the sun started setting at 4.30, and I became really thankful for every extra bit of light I could get, artificial or otherwise.

Someone told me about Seasonal Affective Disorder (talk about an appropriate acronym), where people start getting depressed as the days get shorter in winter. Apparently it can be cured by shining tiny lights into the eyes to simulate sunlight.

Isn't it great how there are easy substitutes for everything these days?
