Update from Montreal (without pictures, you'll see why):

27 Aug: Left Changi, bye Singapore
28 Aug: Transit in Frankfurt, slept 4 hrs, arrived in Montreal Trudeau at noon, stuck in immigration for an hr, then Barry and Michelle (cool missionaries who reach out to international students) sent me to Liz's (another NUS exchange student) place, met Claire (Liz's American roommate), met Alex (Wern Jhien's French Canadien roommate), went out to shop (1.5 hr), met the other Singaporeans, came back, someone broke into apartment and stole our laptops (my entire laptop bag in fact, which also contained my webcam, mouse, earphones, mic, camera charger, camera cable, phone cable), made police report, was advised to go search the pawn shops and the garbage around the pawn shops, searched through garbage for the first time, didn't find anything, late dinner with the Singaporeans + Claire
29 Aug: searched pawn shops, didn't find anything, nice brunch along Amherst, registration, meeting with Assistant Dean Belanger, walked around the west of campus area to look for "a louer" ("for rent") signs, took down numbers to call, International Students Dinner organised by Barry and Michelle, picked up Wern Jhien and Sharad from airport, forgot where Alex parked his car, got home late
30 Aug: made house calls, discovered the area west of campus is REALLY expensive, walked to McGill and stopped for brunch along St Denis, met up with Alexis (Malaysian student), viewed an apartment in her building and another dodgier one up on Ave des Pins, decided to apply for the lease, rushed back to Liz's to get bank account info before 5pm, met up with Akiko, Hiroko, Yuko (Japanese exchange students I met the night before who're apparently gonna be living near me)
31 Aug: sent resume to CAPS (Career something Placement Services) for a part-time job, walked to Chinatown from McGill, banked at CIBC, lunched at Chinatown, shopped a little, walked to Sharad's place (on the opposite end of the island) through Old Montreal (beautiful, especially Notre Dame, stopped at the Palais de Justice (which I just found out to be the judicial offices of Montreal) to pee) and then took a train back to Chinatown to have dinner at TzeWei and Yiwen's place
1 Sep: signed lease, paid deposit, cheap lunch on campus for once (5 items for $10, we each had a burger and a beer), missed Law Orientation cos of apartment, dollar store shopping later and moving after Alex gets off work (free movers = Liz + Alex, yay)
