No, I didn't elope to Rome with a dashing young Spaniard named Carlos. Neither was I abducted by aliens. Nor was I just too buried in work to continue my habit of typing about my life in a box on my computer screen every few days. My recent online absence had been due to first my computer having menopause, and after that was treated, my having candy floss for brains and being unable to re-connect it/her.
Life's been OK I guess, what with Chinese New Year and my first pay day having rescued me from the depths of poverty, though I still would rather trek to The Arcade and Golden Shoe Market for $2 prawn mee than lunch at Lau Par Sat (right across the street) or BK (at the ground floor of my office building). Working has made me realize the value of money and the importance of saving, and I am now a true blue
kiam siap Teochew.
Work-wise, I've graduated from reading files and answering calls to drafting and filing court documents, typing and sending lawyers' letters, though my day is still comprised of alternating periods of boredom and stress. Tuition just started yesterday, and Kyle is very very cute. He didn't say a word for 2 whole hours, however, choosing to use his head to answer my questions, whether or not they are of the yes-no nature. Informed Boss about it so he sent me to his house again today, not to tutor him, but play computer games with him to get him to warm up to me. That worked like a charm, and by 5.30 he was already booing my terrible racecar-driving skills, so hopefully things would go more smoothly from there.
