my life in a box

This one is for the girls: I refused to waste a cent to buy a dress for prom that will spend one night on me and possibly the next ten years in my wardrobe before being completely ingested by moths. (Actually I don't use mothballs so it could be quicker than that.) However, my mum was flabbergasted by the idea of me wearing my $25 Little Black Dress, saying, and I directly quote, 'my daughter has to look pretty'. So a few nights later she burst into my room and shoved three dresses at me, ordering me to try them on. One of them was a high-collared (my Dad screamed 'NOOO!!!!') long black gown that looked rather nice and unique but weighed a ton. The other two looked exactly alike, and like something 90% of the girls at the RGS Alma Mater Night were wearing. (Blue, cross-backed, slinky, Daniel Yam, boring.) But when I looked into the mirror with one of them, guess what: I looked tall. And that was all it took; I now possess a Prom Dress.
