Finally I've reached the end of 1 long week of ICL + hosting the 2 ang mohs. Hosting is really tiring, and I guess it really makes me appreciate the people who've been nice enough to have hosted me (and those who are going to host me), now that I've been on the other end of things.

It was a pretty surreal 2.5 days, but as much as I complain about the fellas not having booked their hotel beforehand and thus making me circumnavigate the sleazy, even-numbered Geylang Lorongs alone, about their lousy English and how tiring it is to translate every damn thing, about how they are bloody weather jinxes who make it snow every time they come to Montreal and now, rain in Singapore, I must admit that I really really enjoyed their company, and kinda miss them now that they're gone. Mr. Nice and Mr. Funny.

(And I was just talking to some people about hosting them and everything and Huiyi mentioned, "Hey, weren't you scared that they might take advantage of you?" And I realized.... that thought never really crossed my mind. Am I too trusting, I wonder? I thought I knew them well enough, I mean, I've seen D's parents (and his parents' respective boyfriend and girlfriend)! You can't mug someone whom you've introduced to your parents, can you?

And now that I think of it, I've done riskier things. I went to Shawinigan to attend Alex & Guillaume's cousin's wedding, just 1 week after I arrived in Montreal - tagging along with WJ & Liz alone, but still. I travelled to NYC alone the first time, taking the subway alone at 5am in the morning. Heck, I accepted Phil's offer to take me around Frankfurt during my layover, after just meeting him at a random house party. But the thing about it is that each time I took the risk, it always paid off beautifully. And I guess if you think about it the other way around, they were equally taking a risk with me, opening up their homes and lives to a stranger. I mean, I know I don't look very menacing, but I could be a great thief! And this would also apply to the girls who have hosted me, people like Bo & Ploy, Marzia & Letizia (for that once in Montreal when I got locked out :P and the upcoming trip in May) - it's so great that I've managed to find people who took the effort to host me! So I guess I really appreciated how much these really really nice people have helped me out during my travels, and so told myself to do the same when I had the opportunity to. I guess it's only right.)

Whew, what a really long aside. Anyways, sign of the times. My best friend is getting married. No date fixed but apparently offer and acceptance already. I feel like I'm still too young for all this, but apparently my friends don't agree! Everyone's getting married left right centre.. Wow. I'm really happy for you though, congrats!

Another sign of the times. My baby brother is staking his claim on the car. Sigh. Looks like I have to get reacquainted with the capricious 138 again.
