So this is Frankfurt.

After my kindgraciousincrediblyhelpfulwonderfulandperfect host Phil picked me up and helped me carry 58kg worth of luggage that stupid Air Canada refused to let me check in, we got on the freeway (autobahn) and sped off at 200km/h. No speed limit!

Then we went to a castle from the Roman Empire.

That's me standing on the edge of the old Roman Empire, with my left foot in the Germanic Empire and my right in the Roman Empire.

And then we headed to Phil's place in Anspach.

And then this historic village whose name I forgot.

Here's the store where we found this book of German "fairytales". I am officially convinced that German people are psychotic. A typical tale went like this: Once upon a time, there was a boy who liked to suck on his thumb. One day, his thumb fell out." Another went: "Once there was a boy who didn't look at the ground when he was walking. One day, he fell. And then he died."

Then we headed to downtown Frankfurt. Notice how the higher levels on the houses are bigger than the lower ones to conserve land, which was really scarce at the time.

Visited a massive church.

Apparently this was the first stone house in Frankfurt.

Part of Old Frankfurt, where the streets are narrower because land was more scarce before the city's limits were extended.

Walked along Main River. During the World Cup, they broadcast matches live on large screens floating on the river.

Touristy must-do No. 1: posing with the Euro sign.

Touristy must-do No. 2: going up to the observation deck on the tallest skyscraper.

Me with aforementioned kindgraciousincrediblyhelpfulwonderfulandperfect host.

Went to the park. Me: Are the ducks from here? Phil: No, they are tourists.

Obviously I wasn't gonna leave Germany without having a beer and some authentic German food! That's cordon bleu by the way.

Auf Wiedersehen!
