my life in a box

So I'm leaving in 2 weeks. Grace, Nick and Shang are here, and then KT will follow, making the transition slightly smoother.

After my last space law paper, I felt strangely disappointed, upset even. As I said my last goodbyes to Rie and Kate, I realised that I would really miss those long, boring Monday afternoons spent in that quaint little Harry-Potter-esque classroom, with those overpriced giant cookies from the vending machine, and those friendly faces that I have long grown accustomed to.

I think I have been slightly depressed since I confirmed my flight home. Each person that I told about my plans responded with varying degrees of disappointment and I realised that over these 8 months, I've indeed made a bunch of really good friends.

On Saturday afternoon we decided to bring WJ's brother out for lunch at Tribune Cafe, where we first went for brunch on WJ and Sharad's first day here, only to discover upon arrival that the cafe was long gone and replaced by a bar. I guess it's true, nothing is constant.

Giz and Alex threw a surprise farewell party for WJ that day, and the turnout was great. I have a love-hate relationship with such farewell parties. On one hand it feels slightly cheesy and contrived, but on another it is nice to get everyone together for one last hurrah.
